Day 3: Tulum – Sian Ka’an – Tulum (22 miles/35 km)

We will leave the hotel after breakfast and travel by van to Tulum, an amazing archeological site overlooking the sea. Tulum is also known as Zama, which means ‘City of Dawn’. Tulum is the only Maya city located directly on the Caribbean Sea. Tulum may have served as a port city for the Maya site of Coba, as there is a sacred road connecting the two. After exploring Tulum we will pedal to Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve where you will have the chance to kayak in the wetlands. While having lunch in the reserve, you will also have the opportunity to learn about environmental technologies. Afterwards we will bike back to our beachfront hotel in the Tulum area.

Day 4: Tulum – Coba (40 miles/ 64 km)

This day will bring a variety of options along with a great ride. We will travel by bike to Coba, stopping on the way to snorkel in the amazing crystal waters of a Cenote. In the afternoon we will visit Coba’s famous archaeological site, which is believed to be one of the largest Maya cities of Yucatan. Coba is also called “stirred by the wind” because it is situated near four natural lakes. After visiting Coba’s archeological site we will take the van and bicycles and transfer to Valladolid colonial city. You may also attend a special lecture about the Maya culture. Overnight in Valladolid.

Day 5: Valladolid – Ek Balam (38 miles/61 km)

Once arrived at the site you will be learning about the culture of Ek Balam and enjoy diving in the crystal clear water of the cenote. After the activities we will turn back to Valladolid by bike. In the afternoon we will do a city tour through Valladolid seeing: murals, the museum of Valladolid and its cathedral. Day 6: Valladolid – Chichen Itza (38 miles/61 km)

After an early breakfast, we will pedal from the colonial city of Valladolid to the most important archaeological site of the Maya World: Chichén Itzá. You may opt to attend a light and sound show in Chichén Itzá. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before taking a van ride to Xcaret, an archaeological and natural “theme park.” This park is famous for aquatic fun, educational sections and entertainment. Highlights are the park’s two rivers (one with underground tunnels), the aviary, the butterfly and mushroom farms, the aquarium, the turtle breeding and releasing area and outdoor performances. In between the different activities you can enjoy a midmorning or late afternoon snack on your own at any of the park’s various restaurants or snack stands.
