Monarch Butterfly Tour

Visit the Sierra Chincua, the El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Sanctuaries and observe their migration.

A unique eight days trip discovering the state of Michoacan. On this tour you will have the chance to visit the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary and see the Monarch butterflies that escape the winter in this beautiful park in Mexico. This trip has everything: Beautiful routes and nature and visits to archaeological sites and colonial cities.

	Day 1
	Arrival at Mexico City International airport. Tour will be welcomed by your professional naturalist guide. Transfer to the Majestic hotel at the Zocalo Plaza, the heart of the city.
	Day 2 Zitacuaro, Michoacan
07:30 hrs.	Breakfast at the hotel.
09:00 hrs.	Visiting the Antropology Museum.
11:00 hrs.	Departure to Zitacuaro, Michoacan.
14:00 hrs.	Lunch at Zitacuaro.
15:00 hrs.	City tour through the beautiful colonial city of Zitacuaro. Find out why this city is called the "Three Times Heroic Zitacuaro City".
16:00 hrs.	Visit the ceremonial centre of Ziráhuato in Sn. Felipe de los Alzati.
18:30 hrs.	Check-in at hotel Don Bruno in Angangueo
19:30 hrs.	Dinner at your hotel.
	Day 3 El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary
08:00 hrs.	Breakfast at the hotel.
09:00 hrs.	Transfer from Angangueo to the El Rosario Monarch Butterfly sanctuary.
10:00 hrs.	We will go hiking in this fantastic and magic place. Just imagine that these Monarch Butterflies have made an incredible long journey to escape the harsh winters in the USA and Canada. You will find an amazing amount of butterflies in one tree.
14:30 hrs.	Lunch in Angangueo.
15:30 hrs.	We will walk in charming downtown of Angangueo. Here, we will have the opportunity to visit the Inmaculada Concepción Temple and Sn. Simon Temple, and the history´s aisle, where we will find out why Angangueo is called “The town that refused to die”.
17:00 hrs.	Return to the hotel.
18:00 hrs.	Lecture on the biology and migration of the monarch butterflies.
19:00 hrs.	Dinner at the hotel.
	Day 4 Sierra Chincua Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary
08:00 hrs.	Breakfast at the hotel.
09:00 hrs.	Transfer to the Sierra Chincua Monarch butterfly sanctuary.
10:00 hrs.	Arrival at the Sanctuary.
10:30 hrs.	We will horse back ride for about 50 minutes to the spot,where the monarch butterflies are located.
14:00 hrs.	Lunch in Angangueo.
16:00 hrs.	We will have time to relax and rest after two days of hiking.
19:00 hrs.	Dinner at the hotel.
	Day 5 Patzcuaro
07:30 hrs.	Breakfast at the hotel.
09:00 hrs.	Departure to Patzcuaro.
12:30 hrs.	Check in at Hosteria San felipe hotel in Patzcuaro.
13:30 hrs.	Lunch at a local restaurant.
15:00 hrs.	Departure to Janitzio island.
18:00 hrs.	Return to your hotel.
19:30 hrs.	Dinner at your hotel.
	Day 6 Uruapan
07:30 hrs.	Breakfast at your hotel.
09:00 hrs.	Transfer to Uruapan. Along the way we drive through Santa Clara del Cobre.
13:00 hrs.	Lunch at the Terraza restaurant.
14:00 hrs.	Visit to the Eduardo Ruiz National Park. We have the opportunity to discover this very unique park. This park is a tropical rainforest with trails along the Rio Cupatitizio. This spring originates in La Rodilla del Diablo (the Devil's Knee). We will be able to enjoy the wonderful crystal-clear water.
15:00 hrs.	We have some more time to explore this beautiful national park and the beauiful handcrafts.
17:00 hrs.	Transfer back to Patzcuaro.
19:30 hrs.	Dinner at your hotel.
	Day 7
07:00 hrs.	Early breakfast at your hotel.
08:00 hrs.	Van transfer to Toluca.
13:00 hrs.	Lunch in Toluca.
15:00 hrs.	Visit the amazing “Cosmovitral”, the botanical garden with the biggest stained glass in the world.
16:00 hrs.	Departure to Mexico City.
19:00 hrs.	Check in at the Majestic hotel.
19:30 hrs.	Farewell dinner in a nice Mexican restaurant.
	Day 8
	Transfer to the airport; time is depending on sheduled flight.
