Jaguar Adventure

An unique seven-day expedition that involves participating in a research project of the jaguars population of Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. The project includes visiting the jaguar's habitat, search of tracks and feces of that great felin inside of the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve, traveling along wetlands, subcaducifolius forest, coastal lagoons, Subperennial forest and dunes.
Some of the activities included are: hiking in the jungle, applying some of biodiversity techniques for data obtain, snorkeling, exploring Mayan sites, and camping on pristine protected areas.
Trip Highlights:
Hiking in the subcaducifolius fores, wetlands or dunes, looking for jaguar tracks.
Camping in the amazing Sian Ka´an Biosphere Reserve jungle, home to more than 345 species of birds, 100 mammals and a wide diversity of plants and animals. Sian Ka´an reserve has more than 1.5 million acres protected. Snorkel the area's reefs and blue lagoons.
Walk through the ruins, and climb the temples of Santa Rosa that reveal the engineering genius and the worldview of the ancient Mayan people that ruled southeast México and Central America. Discover the fantastic ecosystem of hammocks (peten) a unique community of jungle trees in the middle of wetlands.

Day 1 Pick up in the airport and transfer to Santa Teresa Research station in the middle west access of Sian Ka´an Biosphere. Briefing about activities, security measurements and important information regarding the jaguar project. 20:00 Dinner in the station. |

Day 3 6:00 Bird watching in the forest.

7:30 Breakfast in the research station. Day 5 6:00 Optional birdwatching in the jungle. 13:00 Boat trip to snorkel in the unspoiled reefs of the reserve. 14:00 Lunch in Maria Elena town. 15:00 Depart to Bahia de la Ascención, searching of manatees, dolphins and turtles. 18:00 Arriving to Vigia Chico and transfer to the research station. 20:30 Dinner in Santa teresa research station.
