Bird Watching Tour9 days of birding tour with the with the posibility to see over half of the 1040 bird specien in MexicoThe Yucatán Peninsula which consists of Campeche , Quintana Roo and the Yucatán states, is unique for bird watching. In these 3 states, over half of the 1040 bird species in Mexico have been registered. This is due to the great biodiversity which exists between the maritime and the coastal zone where the the Mesoamerican reef, the world's 2 nd largest reef is located. It starts at Contoy island and extends to the southern coast, passing the Banco Chinchorro and Mesoamerica . Also, the native vegetation of the Yucatan Península's coast is very important as not only the resident but also the thousands of migratory birds are feeding on the leafs, fruits and pits. |
| The migratory birds are visiting Mexico 2 times a year to escape from the winter in other countries, crossing the Golf of Mexico for 800 to 1000 kilometers and arriving at the Yucatan Peninsula which is the first stop on their journey to Central America.
EcoColors offers the opportunity to watch birds in the Yucatan Peninsula for groups with a maximum of 8 people. The best places for bird watching are: The botanical garden Dr. Alfredo Barrera Marín, Central Vallarta (route of the cenotes), Muyil (Sian Ka´an), Coba, Punta Laguna, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Vigía Chico, Cozumel and Río Lagartos. |
